Initiatives and Promotions

See some of the Initiatives and Promotions that the NRC Executive and the Rovers of Australia are undertaking.

 

I want to be a Rover is designed to further increase the awareness of Rovers existence and to encourage our youth members to carry on into Rovers. The “I want to be a Rover” woggles will be handed out to younger sections of our movement during their participatioin in joint activities with Rovers.

Every three years in Rovers there is a National Rover Moot, where over 700 Rovers from across Australia and overseas gather for 10 days of fun and adventure. The next National Rover Moot, OzMoot, will be in SA in December 10 - January 11. Don't miss out on this huge event. Click here to see how you can be part of the action.

A Centenary project run by the National Rover Council which gives Scouts the chance to win $5000 in prizes. Get together a team of Scouts (any Section) and show the Australian Scout logo in a high profile and creative way. It’s a great way for us to show our pride in the Scout Movement, letting the public know what Scouts can achieve.

There are many tools around to help you get the most out of your Rovering experience. From publications on programming, crew management, the award scheme or motorsport guidelines to hints and tips for how to promote and grow your Crew.

There is opportunity for some great adventures in Rovers. Whether it be an extended journey or an adventurous activity, we want to know about it. Scouting is a Global Movement, and we have an award program devoted to dealing with the most pressing issues facing our planet. The Scouts of the World Award is open to 15 to 26 year olds around the world that would like to work on a project linked to the United Nations Millennium Development Goals. To explore this exciting new World initiative, click here.
 
The Rovers Australia Marketing Campaign was launched in August '05 to help promote the Rover Section to Venturers, the broader Scouting community and the general public of Rover age. This includes over 80,000 marketing materials to help you promote Rovers in your local area.
 

The Peace Boomerang was released by the National Rover Council in April 2005 as a way for Australian Rovers to help celebrate the Centenary of Scouting, and promote the message of Peace around Australia. The Boomerang has been travelling from Rover to Rover around Australia, accompanied by a logbook which offers the opportunity for people to write their thoughts on Peace. There are many things that we can do to help get the most out of Rovering experience. Compiled here is a series of 'Rover Hot Tips', the 1%'ers that we can all consider to help get the most out of our time in Rovers.

Three new wall posters have been developed on the training and award progression through Scouting and the Rover Section. The Rover Award Chart displays all of the Rover Awards and Insignia available in the Rover Section. The Rover Progress Chart can help you keep track of Rover progress through Squire Training, Awards and Training in the Crew. The Scouting Journey poster demonstrates the links of the highest award in each of the sections, from Joeys through to Rovers and the Baden Powell Scout Award. These are available from Snowgum or your nearest Scouting retail outlet.
 
Roverscope is a huge promotion activity run by the National Rover Council at every Australian Venture. Its aim is to to promote Rovers to Venturers as the next step in their Scouting career, but to do it all in a fun, interactive and laid back atmosphere. Roverscope is happening during the 13th Australian Venture, being held at Sydney Scout Park (Cataract), NSW from the 3rd-14th January 2006.
