Adult Training and Development in the Rover Section
The Scouts Australia Institute of Training (SAIT) is registered to assess specific Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualifications in Leadership and Business, which are recognised throughout Australia. By completing sections of the Leader Training Program, Scouting members are able to apply to SAIT for recognition of prior learning (RPL) for relevant vocational qualifications.
In Scouting, the Leader Training Program is referred to as Gilwell training, which is focused towards obtaining the Wood Badge.
The Scouts Australia training program has kept up to date with latest techniques and methods and as such is able to offer formalised training programs that can be made recognisable by organisations outside of the Association under the Australian National Training Organisation scheme to its members. These courses are open to Rovers and include all aspects of Rovering and Crew operations. Rovers are encouraged to undertake this training and obtain their Wood Badge.
You can RPL the following qualifications through the Scouts Australia Institute of Training (SAIT):
- Certificate III in Business
- Certificate IV in Frontline Management
- Diploma of Management
Rovers are also able to uptake training in a variety of adventurous activities for more information contact the NRC Training and Development Officer at firstname.lastname@example.org
How does the training work?
Rover training in Scouting is a combination of:
- Self-paced e-Learning
- On the job training (workbook)
- Instructor-led training (probably residential)
